Is there a vaccine for Marburg Virus?

There is no current licensed vaccine for Marburg Virus, although clinical trials are underway.

There are ongoing efforts to develop a vaccine against Marburg virus and several experimental vaccines have shown promising results in small-scale clinical trials.

Some experimental vaccines have shown promise, and there is ongoing research and clinical trials which aim to address this problem so they can respond to Marburg Outbreaks.

Clinical trials are being done by by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and also by the University of Oxford, but the vaccine is not yet ready.

Sabin Vaccine Institute has delivered 700 doses of a vaccine which is in stage 2 of its clinical trials.

Sabin has entered into a clinical trial agreement with the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, the trial sponsor, to provide investigational doses for the Phase 2 rapid response open-label study. Per the approved protocol, approximately 700 high-risk adults, starting with health care providers, will be dosed at 6 clinical trial sites in Rwanda. Pending a request from Rwandan officials and authorization from BARDA, Sabin plans to supply additional vaccines.
